stubborn the horse, and the water waits

have you ever heard the phrase "you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink"? sometimes i feel like that horse. stubborn and unreasonable. i know that "He leads me beside still waters". but i refuse to drink.
"He makes me lie down in green pastures". but i refuse to rest.
He offers to "restore my soul". but i am too busy or self-absorbed to receive restoration.
my life feels purposeless, meaningless and useless when i am not drinking, yea greedily gulping in deep drafts of life-giving, soul-restoring water.
let me live in rest and restoration. gratefully receiving the peace and JOY He offers.
peace to trust, even when the road leads through the valley of the unknown.
peace to lie down. to rest my heart and my will in His.
because i was made to know these green pastures.

  5. Very beautiful, Molly. I especially love this line, "my life feels purposeless, meaningless and useless when i am not drinking, yea greedily gulping in deep drafts of life-giving, soul-restoring water." And I really love that last picture!
