one of my favorite things about summer is... the food. yes, i love winter food too, but i lovelovelove the fresh, colorful food of summer. last weekend my uncle was here and he helped us make a tasty little dish called ceviche. it is traditionally shrimp cooked (yes cooked - no heat required) in lime juice. in fresh squeezed juice it will cook in about half an hour. but we tried using lime juice out of a bottle and it took much longer to cook.

peeled shrimp
fresh chopped cilantro
tomato
serrano pepper for a punch
served with sliced avacado... and there you have a fresh, zesty, summer appetizer! it was pretty amazing. :)
another summer favorite. fresh picked strawberries from our garden! oh yes!
